The Insanity Correction
Posted on Wed, Sep. 13, 2023 at 01:34 am
A definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results. So I guess I'm guilty of an almost incurable hope in humanity. I realize that I shouldn't include my in-laws in that, since they clearly don't qualify as humans.
I had given the IL's yet another chance to show they give a crap and invariably (as always) they proved that they do not. When I pulled back is when a brief head movement happened but only as a sort of weak denial of the truth of the matter.
No one is fooled by that and they've irritated my last nerve on this point. If no one is going to care about us then we're happy to keep more to ourselves. If folks were ignoring us as part of some game, consider me dealt out. I have a family to take care of, work to do, a homestead to run, friends/family/loved ones who actually give a crap about us to spend time with.
Hubby says I keep doing this every so often because, like childbirth, I forget the pain involved in the process. I guess my big heart WANTS so badly for the IL's to care about my kids and husband (I've given up on any caring for me, as we well know they loathe me with every fiber of their being and I can't say I feel much differently about them at this point).
Well, that insanity has been corrected and the open door policy has been placed abaft.
