Re: It boggles the mind!
Thank you all for the great responses and ideas! I'm going to think about everything for a bit and then reply. But I know I'm getting nothing positive from this friendship since every conversation seems to be how she has been hurt, insulted, and left out.

It boggles the mind!
Hi, all! I can't believe I am writing this. I found out that one of my friends, whom I'll call Kathy, definitely qualifies for MIL from hell. Before I give details, I hope none of the women already on here are her DIL! This friend and I were once very close, when we were in our late teens to early 2...

Re: Should I be bothered?
Hi, WMB! I think I have been in a similar situation. When we moved to a 55+ active adult community, we found similar dynamics. My DH was still working and involved with friends at work. But I was on my own. There seemed to be cliques in the community, even when I joined groups that were supposed to ...

Re: Please Help Me!
I agree with the previous advice. You stated that your FH would do anything for you. But apparently anything doesn't include standing up for you. You need to leave ASAP. Find another place to live, work a second job if necessary. Stand on your own two feet for a while. When you can see things clearl...

Re: Hello!
WMB, that is great that you like the 55+ community. DH and I did that, but didn’t have the same luck. After we moved in, also all new construction, we discovered that most of the residents were at least 20 years older than us! Their kids were our age. We moved out after a few years back to the town ...

I also remember you! I have thought about you many times and wondered how your story continued. Thank you for coming back here to give us an update. I am so glad you left and are makng a new life for yourself. Your situation was terrible, I don’t know how you managed day after day. It seems you trie...

Re: What would you do?
I don’t have any advice, except to agree with what mamarama just said. Years ago, we got a HUGE hospital bill for an overnight stay when DH had a kidney stone, which fortunately passed. I questioned an item with the nurse at our doctor’s office. I found out the hospital billed us for surgery to remo...

Same here! I had a baby gift business, but not online. Everyone raved about my items when I gifted them, but no one but one cousin ever bought from me! Yet they knew where to send invites to their events.

Re: Has anyone ever reported a GoFundMe account?
The only time I have heard of a GoFundMe account being taken down was when someone started one in someone else's name and the real person had it stopped. But yes, you do donate at your own risk.

Re: Looking At Houses, DH Worried About IL's Opinions
Just my two cents here. DH and I have moved multiple times in 47 years. (Good grief! Has it been that long?!) For the most part, you don't live on the outside, you live inside. So if the interior fits your needs and wants, you can always add landscaping and paint the front door, add lighting, etc.af...

Re: She broke up with him
Jem, I am so sorry! But I hope there will be happier times ahead for DD, and for your whole family. If she broke up with the boyfriend, it was the right thing to do.

Sorry I don't have any helpful ideas, I just wanted to say "Halleluia!" (Music from Handel's ' 'Messiah' in background). Let hope she ends it sooner rather than later.

Re: Dr.s visits.
Just to let you all know, my cataract surgery went well, but I am going to need new prescription glasses. Not sure how long before I get those, the incision has to heal. It wasn't a difficult surgery, but feels like I have a speck in my eye. I see the dr again next week to make sure it's all going a...
